Our Story

A small Kentucky boutique, building pieces meant to outlast us.

The Lake Ridge Gems boutique interior
Chapter One — 1978

In the spring of 1978, William Stone opened a single display case in a corner of his father's hardware store in downtown Monticello. He had just returned from an apprenticeship in Asheville with twelve dollars, a worn loupe, and a conviction that the people of Lake Cumberland deserved jewelry made with the same care as anything sold in New York.

Nearly fifty years later, Lake Ridge Gems is run by William's daughter Anna and his grandson Eli. The display case has grown into a quiet boutique on Main Street, and the workbench has grown into a small atelier overlooking the water — but the conviction is unchanged.

Every piece we sell is hand-finished by a Lake Ridge Gems jeweler. Every stone is chosen in person. Every engagement ring leaves with a handwritten note. We are not the largest jeweler in Kentucky, and we never intend to be. We are simply the one your grandmother will tell you to visit.
